I had been hoping that Dr. Coleman would write another book in the Bilbury series. After a rather slow start, for me, I enjoyed Bilbury Tonic as it developed. I find most of Vernon Coleman's work insightful, humerous, and often "right on". (Of course, some of his books are not, and were not intended to be, humerous. I'll keep alert for any new books by Dr. Coleman.
This was a heartwarming and funny book by a wonderful. I have truly enjoyed all of the Bilbury books. They end much too quickly. All of the characters are wonderful and seem like my old friends. I hope there will 'be more Bilbury books to come.
Kinder, more gentle times, unlocked doors, helping your neighbor - delightful books and now I've read every single one of them! English writers are so wonderful to read. They use such wonderful words and the thoughts are all so well developed. I enjoyed the book (s) very much!
Book 7 I found to be a little hard to concentrate on, becoming easily distracted - perhaps even bored. Found the short, short stories to be too short. This book, however, has taken the same kind of story but given it more depth. Very good!!!
I've thoroughly enjoyed all books written by Dr. Coleman, including the Mrs Caldecott books. He writes with humor, compassion, and empathy for his fellow man. Thank you Dr.Coleman, have just finished my second round of reading your works. I am still laughing and occasionaly crying! There is always a good moral in your work,which I appreciate.
Such sweet stories and descriptions of the little village of Bilbury, hopefully a real place in the countryside . Have read the whole series and will continue to.
Love this series. Well written stories based on life in a laid back rural setting through the eyes of the local doctor. Harkens back to a simpler time when doctors lived amongst their communities with close relationships to their patients. A gentler way to practice medicine.
I read the eleven books of the Young Country Doctor of Bilbury and I loved them all. Sometimes funny sometimes sad. It reminded me of my little village in Germany. People where very close and knew everything about each other. I wish he would write some more books. I felt said when I read the last page of book # 11. Please write another.
